When we think of cocoa, the image of the chocolate bar immediately springs to mind. Generous, crunchy, smooth and tasty, it has been delighting young and old alike since the 19th century. Discover the gourmet world of Jeff de Bruges, from cocoa bean to bar, with a wide variety of delicious chocolate flavours to enchant your senses.

The chocolate bar, a story of indulgence

Cocoa, once a divine, bitter, and spicy drink, is now a delightful, melt-in-your-mouth treat. For most of its history, cocoa has been consumed in liquid form. It wasn't until the 19th century that solid chocolate appeared, with the creation of the first bar. At last, chocolate could be devoured!
The year was 1847, in England. Chocolatiers experimented, combining cocoa, sugar and cocoa butter to produce a chocolate bar. The result wasn’t quite what they expected; the bar was grainy and brittle, but it was still a success. Its delightful taste and solid form have made “Delicious Eating Chocolate” a popular product. This little bar easily fits in your bag, perfect for enjoying whenever you want.

Some thirty years later, a Swiss chocolatier invented milk chocolate, adding powdered milk to the mix. This was a revolution in the world of confectionery, as chocolate gained in finesse and smoothness. Chocolatiers could create luxuriously smooth chocolate bars with a delightful melt-in-your-mouth quality. The labs have become more active over the years, filled with inventions and experiments, some successful, others not. The many delectable chocolate bars we savour today, such as milk chocolate, raspberry, coconut, and dried fruit, all came about like this.

Tasty and convenient, the chocolate bar has it all!

The chocolate bar’s immense popularity stems from its deliciousness and convenience. It goes without saying—they taste great, offering diverse flavours and cocoa intensities. From dark to white chocolate, with or without extras, it’s a treat for all ages. Its delightful flavours are matched by its diverse textures — from satisfyingly crunchy to incredibly smooth and melt-in-your-mouth.
Chocolate bars are revolutionising how people consume cocoa. They can be transported and stored easily, taking up very little space and becoming an integral part of our daily lives. You can enjoy a few squares as a dessert or snack, on its own or with a slice of buttered bread. Easy to break, chocolate bars are perfect for sharing with family and friends. You can also enjoy it slowly, one piece at a time, making the pleasure last longer.

Enjoy the roundness, depth and generosity of this melt-in-the-mouth chocolate. Available in various intensities, it ranges from a simple form to gourmet versions with fleur de sel caramel, gianduja hazelnuts, coconut, Montélimar nougat, or caramelised hazelnuts.

Last but not least, we'd like to introduce you to chocolate bark, a delicious treat inspired by the French mendiant! They're a more original and sophisticated version of chocolate bars, ideal for giving, but also for treating yourself. They consist of a thin layer of dark, milk or white chocolate, generously topped with almonds, caramelised hazelnuts, raspberry pieces, raisins or pomegranate chips. Prepare for a plethora of flavours—bark offers endless culinary possibilities!

The savoir-faire of a chocolatier & cocoa grower…the key to great chocolate bars

At Jeff de Bruges, we are chocolatiers & cocoa growers, and we're proud to grow our own cocoa beans in Ecuador. Unless a different origin is specified, we oversee the entire process for our exclusive couverture chocolate, from planting to shelf. This commitment to good chocolate enables us to offer you much more than just a pleasant-tasting experience. With a focus on sharing and a commitment to the future, our chocolates are crafted for your complete enjoyment.

We offer you a fine range of chocolates guaranteed GMO-free, without palm oil or hydrogenated vegetable fats. Our chocolate bars taste as good as they look! Their intensity owes much to their cocoa concentration, with at least 35% and 60% cocoa for milk and dark chocolate, respectively.
